Share your grocery list with your household

If you and your partner shop from one grocery list, NoshUp can show that list to both of you. The list belongs to your household, not to one account, so each of you can open it on your own phone and check off items as you shop.

One list for the whole household

In NoshUp, the grocery list lives at the household level, along with meal plans, budgets and receipts. Anyone in your household who opens Groceries sees the same list: the same items, and the same checkmarks.

You share the meal plan too. One of you can plan the week and the other can shop it, without copying anything between accounts. If you're new to how the list gets built from your meals, start with your grocery list, always up to date. Changing your meals later doesn't rewrite a saved list on its own; the guide explains the review step.

One thing to know before you split up in the store: an open Groceries page doesn't refresh on its own. Your partner's checks appear on your phone after your next check finishes saving, or when you reopen the page. The details are in the section below.

Invite the second shopper

Each person needs their own NoshUp account. If your partner doesn't have one yet, they can create a free account first.

Then, from the admin account:

  1. Open Settings and find the Members card.
  2. Choose Invite.
  3. Enter the email of the account you're adding, and pick a role: Admin, Member or Viewer.

Inviting household members is a Pro feature, and only household admins can do it. The invite adds the person straight away; nothing waits on an email link, so tell them to sign in. The next time they open the app, they land in your shared household, where Groceries shows the list you both shop.

Split the store, check as you go

Suppose you're both in the store and you've agreed on who takes which aisles. Each of you opens Groceries on your own phone and taps the circle beside an item as it lands in the cart.

The list is shared, so you don't have to call out what's done. If an item's circle is already checked, someone has marked it as bought. You don't need to check it again.

For Shopping mode, the full-screen view, and Add item for extras a recipe won't cover, see the grocery list guide. Either of you can add an item, and it appears on the other phone the next time the list refreshes.

How both phones stay on the same list

Each tap sends an update to the shared list. NoshUp retries some temporary connection failures, so a spotty signal in the store doesn't silently lose a check. Once your pending checks finish, your phone reloads the whole list, and that reload brings in your partner's saved checks.

If you're standing still and not tapping anything, your phone won't refresh on its own. Open Groceries again, or reload the page, to catch up with everything saved. That's the rhythm while you both shop: tap, save, and the list catches up on your next check.

What's shared, and what stays yours

Shared by the whole household Yours alone
The grocery list and its checks Your NoshUp account, one per person
Meal plans for the week
Flyer matches from the household's postal code
Budget and receipts

Flyer matches come from the postal code saved on your household, so you both shop the same deals. Plan your week around flyer deals explains how the matching works, and staying on budget with NoshUp covers the shared budget.

What it doesn't do

The list doesn't assign items to people. There's no "yours" and "mine" tagging, and no split-the-list button. You decide who takes which aisles; the list keeps one shared record of what's marked bought.

It also doesn't record who checked what. An item shows as bought because someone tapped it; the list doesn't say which of you did.

Set it up before the next shop

  1. Your partner creates an account.
  2. From your admin account, invite them in Settings.
  3. Both of you open Groceries and shop the same list.
